In other news, Sebastian Zietz is having a solid rookie year with two quarter final showings currently 16th on the WCT, John John has bounced back strong from injury with 3rd in Bali and 5th in Tahiti. Freddy P has been on fire of late and has made good in the last few WCT events, he’s currently 19th thanks to a solid 5th place showing in Tahiti as well. Unfortunately our CT boys didn’t fair too well at Lowers, but there’s still three events for them to climb the ratings.
Coming into the final leg of the WQS we have several surfers in striking range of qualifying, Granger, Mason, Keanu, Kiron, Zeke, are all in the top 100, with big results in Haleiwa and Sunset Prime events see these guys qualify for the WCT in a similar fashion as Seas Bass did in 2012. Injury update from Dusty camp, he’s back on Maui rehabbing the knee for possible return in Portugal and no doubt he’ll be ready for the Triple Crown.
On the women’s front, Carissa Moore has been on fire in 2013, she has three wins, a couple of 3rd places, and no worse than a 5th, she’s currently the points leader with another world title in her sights. Coco currently sits 7th with some solid results. Alana is just near the cut line but has two more events to solidify her position. While Malia although outside the cut on the WCT, she’s number one on the QS after the final event.
Juniors update, congratulations to Seth Moniz and Mahina Maeda for taking top honors on the ASP Hawaii regional ratings for 2013. The World JR Championships are being held in Brazill Oct 29 – Nov 5th and we are sending a very impressive team, joining are regional champions are the following surfers.
Also, congrats to the following Long Boarders from Hawaii who qualified for the World Long Board Championships being held in China Nov 20 – 30.
BEST OF LUCK TO ALL OUR SURFERS TRAVELING TO THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, BRING HOME THE HARDWARE.
